WWE 2K Battlegrounds comes out in a couple of days and it has been dubbed a spiritual successor to the massively popular All Stars. It certainly looks zany, whacky, and fun with its moves that are more over-the-top than AEW’s co-ordinated gymnastics, but lots of people want to know whether it will be on PS5 and Xbox Series X with a next-gen upgrade option similar to NBA 2K21.

Although WWE 2K Battlegrounds superficially looks less of game compared to the simulation efforts wrestling is mostly known for, there is still an incredible roster with more than 70 wrestlers just at launch. And there will be free DLC post-launch so there’s to look forward to after you’ve gotten your hands on the game and stepped into the boots of Daniel Bryan, Sasha Banks, or Seth Rollins.

However, with next-gen consoles set to arrive for the Holidays, below you’ll discover whether the game will be on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The pre-order bonus for the Standard Edition of WWE 2K Battlegrounds is Edge.

Edge returned to the wrestling landscape at this year’s Royal Rumble, and he is the pre-order bonus for the Standard Edition of WWE 2K Battlegrounds.

In addition to the Rated R Suuuuuperstar, there’s also a limited edition Supercard for physical copies only.

The Standard Edition of the game only costs £34.99 on PS4, Xbox One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch, meanwhile the Digital Deluxe copy costs £44.99.

For spending £10 extra, you still get Edge along with 1,100 in-game currency, but you also get Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock from the Attitude Era, and Ronda Rousey.

Will WWE 2K Battlegrounds be on PS5 and Xbox Series X?

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is not listed for the PS5 or Xbox Series X.

A next-gen upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X isn’t listed amongst any pre-order bonuses for WWE 2K Battlegrounds, so that option is not available unlike how it was with the NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever Edition.

It’s possible that the wrestling game of miniature dwarfs could still arrive on next-gen consoles, but – as of writing – nothing has been announced.

This is admittedly a shame with the PS5 and Xbox Series X both right around the corner. But it’s possible and probably likely that the game will be playable on next-gen via backwards compatability.
