Adobe Premiere Pro New Features

The Adobe Video World Virtual Conference is currently happening and Adobe has announced new features for Premiere Pro as well as performance improvements for After Effects & Audition. New features in Premiere Pro include HDR for Broadcasters and Scene Edit Detection. Premiere Rush CC is an all-new mobile and desktop app that lets you create and publish professional-quality video, including color, audio, and motion graphics from almost anywhere. You can capture and edit footage using Premiere Rush on iOS, macOS, or Windows.

Adobe Premiere Pro New Features

Alongside new versions of After Effects, Character Animator, and Premiere Rush, Adobe has updated all of its major audio and video apps. Most introduce new features such as automatic reframing, and all have improved performance.

As part of its giant update of Creative Cloud apps, Adobe has released new editions of its major video and audio software including Premiere Pro, Audition and After Effects. Overall, the apps have had performance improvements, but most also have new features.

Premiere Pro and its associated After Effects app have seen the most additions. The video editor now includes Auto Reframe, a machine-learning-powered system that automatically crops and pans footage to fit different formats.

Specifically, footage shot in regular 16:9 widescreen can be automatically reformatted to square, vertical or a custom aspect ratio. Adobe says this uses its Sensei technology to analyze the footage so that it keeps the main action within the frame. The automatic results are adjustable, meaning you can fine-tune any part of your footage.

Premiere Pro also extends Adobe's Time Mapping feature. This is how you speed up a video clip and previously Premiere Pro let you create a fast-forward motion of up to 1,000% of the original speed. Now that's increased to 20,000%.

After Effects, the Apple Motion-like effects editor, has a new GPU architecture as well as improvements to how the app uses the Mac's CPU. Adobe claims this means improves performance to allow for previewing effects in real time.

Adobe also specifies that its recent Content-Aware Fill feature, introduced earlier in 2019, now runs at twice the speed while utilizing half its previous memory requirements. Multichannel EXR files are reportedly up to between 10 and 12 times faster. Similarly, importing ProRes HDR is said to be up to 10 times faster.

Audition, Adobe's audio editing app, has also been updated with new and improved multichannel audio effects workflows.

All of the updates to these apps are available now via Adobe Creative Cloud. Creative Cloud is a subscription service offering certain individual apps for either $9.99 or $20.99 per month, or a bundle of them all starting at $52.99 per month.

Scene Edit Detection

Adobe Premiere Elements Features

Using Scene Edit Detection allows editors to quickly find cuts in previously edited video, faster and more accurately. The feature adds cuts and markers so that users can apply effects to individual shots and re-edit previously rendered content quickly and efficiently.

HDR for Broadcasters

This new feature enables users to produce programming in Rec2100 HLG HDR for modern HDR broadcasting, including automatic color conversion, HDR scope support, color space overrides for incorrect metadata, and full color management for Apple ProRes and Sony XAVC Intra formats.

Quick Export (in public Beta)

Quick Export offers easy access to the most popular and frequently used export settings, right from the header bar in Premiere Pro. Editors can use the default, high-quality H.264 output with matched Source Settings or choose from a short list of H.264 presets that allow you reduce the size of your export files.

Performance Improvements

  • ProRes multicam performance in Premiere Pro can support up to 2x more streams, accelerating editing workflows with this widely used format.
  • Coming shortly to After Effects, Channel effects are now GPU-accelerated, providing up to 1.65x faster performance. These include Minimax, Shift Channels, Set Channels, and Channel Combine.
  • OpenEXR Previews for multipart and multichannel files are now up to 3x faster in After Effects. (This improvement was included in the August performance update for After Effects.)
  • Faster Effects scanning for VST3 and Audio Unit (AU) plugins in Audition and Premiere Pro means faster launch times for users with third-party audio plugins. Effects scanning is up to 15x faster on macOS and up to 10x faster on Windows.

After Effects Updates

Features Of Adobe Pro

After Effects will also be receiving new features including 3D Transform Gizmods & updated Camera Navigation Tools which are available to try in the public Beta versions.

3D Transform Gizmos

helps users navigate a scene faster and more intuitively. Users can scale, position, and rotate layers with helpful guides that show how far a layer or object has been moved and how many degrees it has been rotated. Users also can switch between gizmo modes to focus on a single task and make precision adjustments efficiently.

Camera Navigation Tools

Reimagined to give artists an intuitive and flexible approach to navigate 3D spaces. The new default scene camera streamlines scene setup. Adding multiple cameras to a scene showcases various viewpoints: intuitively orbit, pan, and dolly around objects using customizable keyboard shortcuts.
